Reinier Voet (1962) released his new quartet album ‘IMAGES’. On this new album, the guitarist, who until now was best known for his gipsy jazz style, takes a new path with his own compositions and arrangements. Apart from Voet, the quartet is made up of musicians also known in jazz: Jelle van Tongeren (violin), Mischa Kool (double bass), and Harold Berghuis (rhythm guitar).

A new CD, new shop
Number seven of the Reinier Voet & Pigalle44 catalogue is out! Karin van Kooten guests on violin. The recordings were made in the legendary Hilversum Studio, where Django did a live radio broadcast in 1937. Get your copy now!
In Django’s footsteps, Voet style
January 13th took the trio, with Karin van Kooten as a special guest, to the legendary Studio 2 of MCO (Muziek Centrum van de Omroep) in Hilversum.
The studio that was designed as the fist radiostudio for live music in Holland has seen many jazzheros since it was built in the early 1930ies.
Even Django has played there, as part of his short stay in Holland in November 1937. He was invited to play a live radioshow with members of the, then immensely popular, Dutch dance band The Ramblers.
Reinier cooked up a lovey set of Django tunes, gypsy jazz classics, more unknown material and of course some Voet tunes for a live cd-recording.
Reinier, Jan, Jet and Karin spent a productive afternoon and morning in the studio and the result is to there!
My Room is out
For this release Reinier invites violinist Jelle van Tongeren. An album that is comprised of songs from the ‘gypsy jazz’ songbook but also with music from the pen of Reinier.
This release has been made possible thanks to the contributions of our bandfriends on Indiegogo
Gypsy Jazz on a Gibson
Reinier Voet combines Gypsy Jazz and Jazz with guitars that work well in both styles. Just have listen to his 1951 Gibson ES150 in My Room.
Custom made pick
A part of the Crowdfunder at Indiegogo: As every guitarist has a preference for his plectrums, so does Reinier:
“The perfect pick develops by playing it into shape. The tip of the pick enables you create a warm sound. The secret is the way the tip hits the string. I have analyzed one of my favorite picks together with my friend and Luthier Thijs van der Harst of Moustache Guitars. With his knowledge and tools we found a way to reproduce that ideal pick. It now saves me (and YOU!) a lot of time to get to that point and it will start you off with pleasant playing.”
It is good to have Thijs on board for this job: he is a great craftsman and has built a nice range of wonderful sounding guitars. His eye for detail, his ear for sound, his quest for the right wood and the care for his instruments make him a luthier who earned much respect in gypsy jazz scene.
